From our friendly caring team to our careful explanation of any treatment we recommend, your comfort and well being are always top of mind. We use topical and local anesthetics to 'freeze' the areas we are treating and can offer dental gas to further calm your nerves if dental visits are unsettling for you.

At High Park Dental Care we take your comfort one step further with the choice of tools in our office. When appropriate we opt for less invasive treatments, reduce your exposure to x-rays and involve you in your treatment.Feel free to ask us any questions during your next visit.

Although the exposure associated with traditional x-rays is well within acceptable levels, at High Park Dental Care your well being is our primary concern.

We use digital x-ray technology to further reduce your exposure to x-rays in our office.

The digital radiographs used at High Park Dental provide us with excellent images allowing us to analyze potential problems and areas of concern. You can view the images with us on computer monitors (located in all our treatment rooms).

At High Park Dental Care we have digital intra oral cameras in our operatories. This allows us to show you what we see displayed on a computer monitor and explain in detail any procedure we are suggesting. We can also show you why treatment is necessary and explain all of the options available to you.

You'll be surprised what you can see with our cameras and will feel far more comfortable with your treatment when you understand what is being done and why.

As comfortable as we try to make our patients there are always those that just fear the dental chair. It could be the needles, the drills, the noises or just the anticipation. If you're one of our patients that just dreads coming in, we may have a solution for you.If you're one of our patients that just dreads coming in, we may have a solution for you.

Have you ever wished there was a way you could just close your eyes and have it be over?
There may be a solution for you!

What is Nitrous Oxide?

Nitrous Oxide - better known as laughing gas - is an effective relaxant that is widely utilized in dentistry.

The gas is administered through a mask placed over the nose of the patient. After 30 seconds to 5 minutes of breathing the patient begins to feel a pleasant level of sedation. In some patients there may be tingling in the extremities and the cheeks and gums may begin to feel numb.

After the gas has been adjusted to the appropriate dose and the patient's anxiety is controlled, we can proceed with treatment.

After treatment is completed the patient is given pure oxygen to breath for a short time. During this time the effects of sedation are almost always reversed. Unlike IV or general anesthesia the patient can leave the office by themselves as a rule.

Nitrous oxide is great for patients who:

  • Have avoided dental treatment due to nervousness or fear
  • Have difficulty getting numb through "Freezing"
  • Have extremely sensitive teeth

If anxiety has been keeping you from visiting us, please be sure to ask Dr. Hahn about nitrous oxide. We will help you decide if this is something that would be good for you to try.
